Marana Unified School District would like to thank you for your interest in Substituting.  

We are currently accepting applications for Certified Substitute Teachers and Substitute Support Staff. 
You may complete an on-line application in person at the Administrative Service Center, in the Reception area on available computers.

Compensation

Marana Unified School District current compensation:

Certified Substitute Teachers:
    $155.00 per day Long Term (20 days or more/ Must be Highly Qualified)
    $85.00 per day for all schools
    $42.50 per half days (4 hours)

*Pay increases are available (requirements must be met and followed)

Substitute Support Staff:
    $10.00 - $11.36 per hour depending on the substitute assignment

                                    Possible compensation increase


Substitute Teacher
To receive a Substitute Certificate:

    Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card  IVP Packet:
Contact Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) by phone (602) 223-2279.  DPS will send you the fingerprint clearance card IVP packet.
Make an appointment to be fingerprinted at any Department of Public Safety (DPS).  Mail fee by money order/cashiers check along with the application and fingerprints in the envelope provided. 

    Certification:
Requirements: Minimum Bachelor Degree

Obtain an Certificate application from:
Arizona State Board of Education - Certification Unit  (Visit their website) can upload the application from their website.  From MUSD website click on the link Community at the top of this page to  down load and print the certificate application from the Arizona State Board of Education.

After receiving DPS fingerprint clearance card.  Submit copy of card and $60.00 fee, along with your application and official transcripts to the Arizona State Board of Education – Certification Unit.

MUSD requires the certificate to be recorded at Pima County Superintendents Office

Note:  May substitute under
 
any type of valid Arizona teaching certificate.  If considered as a Long Term Substitute covering for more then 19 days in the classroom.
 

After Receiving Your Certificate

You may complete a Substitute Teacher application at the -

  • Fingerprint Clearance Card from the Department of Public Safety
  • Copy of recorded Certificate 
  • Copy Immunization records
  • Copy of your transcript showing completion of at least Bachelors Degree

    Note: Application will require to attach these documents, if unable to attach they are required at orientation along with Employment Identification.

  • Immunization records

    Note: Application will require to attach documents, if unable to attach they are required at orientation along with Employment Identification.
    A CPR and First Aid are only required to be a Health Aid.  To obtain a CPR and First Aid please contact Northwest Fire Department for available classes.
